LIRR adds trains for Yom Kippur observants
To accommodate those who want to get home early to observe Yom Kippur, the Long Island Rail Road will run eight additional eastbound trains Friday afternoon on the Babylon, Port Jefferson, Port Washington and Far Rockaway branches from Penn Station.
The additional trains will run between 2:08 p.m. and 3:48 p.m. They are as follows:
The Babylon branch - A 2:22 p.m. express to Lynbrook, making all stops to Babylon; a 3 p.m. stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre and then all stops to Babylon; a 3:31 p.m. express to Rockville Centre, making all stops to Babylon.
The Port Jefferson branch - A 2:08 p.m. train stopping at Jamaica, Carle Place and then all stops to Huntington; a 2:26 p.m. stopping at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica, New Hyde Park and all stops to Huntington; a 3:24 p.m. stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Westbury and then Hicksville.
The Port Washington branch to Great Neck - a 3:40 p.m. stopping at Woodside, Flushing-Main Street, then all stops to Great Neck.
The Far Rockaway branch - A 3:48 p.m. stopping at Locust Manor, then all stops to Far Rockaway.
