The Long Island Rail Road has made temporary repairs on its signal system on the Long Beach branch and reported residual delays of up to 60 minutes in both directions.

The LIRR had announced the delays at 6:53 p.m. on its website, mta.info/lirr.

"LIRR representatives are on scene assessing the situation," the railroad said in its announcement.

But just before 8 p.m., the rail road said tempororary repairs had been made.

Four trains were canceled or expected to be canceled as a result of the signal trouble, the LIRR said.
