The Long Island Rail Road was back on schedule Wednesday after reporting minor delays into and out of Atlantic Terminal because of a broken rail.

Railroad spokesman Aaron Donovan said three eastbound trains and three westbound trains were affected with delays of less than five minutes. Delays had originally been estimated at 10 to 15 minutes.

The rail broke because of age and wear, Donovan said.
