LIRR: Man falls on tracks at Jamaica station
The Long Island Rail Road suspended service for about an hour early Friday after a man fell to the tracks at the Jamaica station, a spokeswoman for the commuter rail service said.
The man fell onto the tracks shortly after 8 a.m., and the LIRR suspended service as the man was removed by emergency personnel.
Spokeswoman Marjorie Anders said the man was conscious and alert as he was taken to New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens in Flushing. Anders said a witness told LIRR personnel the man apparently had a seizure before falling.
She had no additional information on his condition.
Delays of up to 35 minutes resulted on several trains east and west of Jamaica station as late as 9:49 a.m., the LIRR said.
