LIRR: Man grazed, dog killed by train
A dog was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train east of the Woodside station early Friday, a spokeswoman for the commuter service said.
A man, walking with his dog, had his hand grazed by the same train, the 9:32 a.m. train out of Great Neck, the spokeswoman said.
The man initially refused medical attention, but he was then taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, the spokeswoman said.
The accident happened at 10:11 a.m., the spokeswoman said, on the Port Washington Branch.
There were several delays on the branch and two trains were canceled, the spokeswoman said. Service resumed at or near the LIRR's normal schedule at 11:41 a.m.
Metropolitan Transportation Authority police are investigating, the spokeswoman said.
