The Long Island Rail Road is back on or close to schedule after a broken crossing gate at New Hyde Park caused several train delays Wednesday morning, the railroad said.

Delays through Mineola were as long as 10 minutes because of the gate issue in New Hyde Park, as trains moved slower than normal because of speed restrictions.

Four trains were delayed about 10 to 14 minutes each between 6:14 a.m. and 8:25 a.m., the LIRR said.

Also, several westbound trains originating in Long Beach also were delayed because of equipment problems, the commuter service said in email alerts.

In an email alert to customers, the LIRR said at 8:31 a.m. the railroad was on or close to schedule systemwide.

Spokesman Sal Arena said about 10 morning trains overall were delayed because of the broken crossing gate and the equipment issue out of Long Beach.
