Service was back to normal Thursday morning on the Long Island Rail Road after delays averaging 15 minutes on the Ronkonkoma branch caused by a motor vehicle that entered the track area in Bethpage, the railroad said.

A photograph taken at the scene shows the vehicle in an area of brush adjacent to the tracks near Railroad Avenue.

An LIRR spokeswoman said the driver, a woman who was in the car alone, went in reverse, turned the steering wheel the wrong way, and wound up on the right of the way, near the tracks but not on them.

No summons was issued.
