LIRR: Part of Long Beach branch to be suspended over two weekends
Long Island Rail Road train service will be suspended between Valley Stream and Long Beach during the next two weekends because of a track project, LIRR officials said.
Buses will replace trains between the two stations from 12:01 a.m. Saturday until 12:15 p.m. Sunday, and again from 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, until 12:28 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16.
The outages are necessary as the LIRR replaces track switches along the Long Beach branch.
LIRR officials advised customers to expect up to 28 minutes in additional travel time because of the busing. Lynbrook customers will still be able to take Babylon line trains to travel west to Jamaica and Penn Station.
