LIRR: Slip-slide conditions caused by leaves delays some trains

The Long Island Rail Road said it experienced some delays late in the Monday morning rush hour because of slippery residue created by crushed leaves.
One or more trains were delayed several minutes on the City Terminal Zone, Oyster Bay, Montauk and Port Jefferson branches after oily residue from crushed leaves caused train wheels to slip while accelerating or slide during braking, the LIRR said on its website, mta.info/lirr, and in email alerts to customers.
