Locust Valley High student burned in class
A student in a high school chemistry class suffered minor burns to the forearm Monday morning in a fire that started during a lab experiment, Nassau County police and the school district said.
The incident triggered the temporary evacuation of the Locust Valley Middle/High School building about 10 a.m., officials said. The identity of the student was not released. Classes resumed after 30 minutes, the school said.
Police said the teen was transported to a hospital for treatment.
School officials later released a statement saying three other students who complained about headaches and nausea were treated at a hospital and released.
