Long Beach ends curfew

The Long Beach curfew meant to help protect that community after superstorm Sandy was lifted Wednesday.
"While we remain in a state of emergency and maintain an aggressive police presence to ensure residents' safety, the City's curfew has been lifted," the Long Beach website said.
The curfew was first eased a week ago, and was being enforced from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., until this new announcement.
Long Beach was one of the areas hardest hit by the storm, with many homes and stores there flooded, without power, and deserted.
Officials had said they launched extra patrols and enacted a curfew to help protect residences and businesses.
