A 21-year-old motorcyclist from Long Beach was killed Wednesday afternoon when he struck a school bus that turned in front of him on Lawson Boulevard in Oceanside, Nassau County police said.

Mark Dejak, 21, of 45 Farrell St., was pronounced dead at South Nassau Communities Hospital, according to police.

Police said Dejak was operating a 2008 Honda motorcycle northbound on Lawson Boulevard when a 2001 school bus being driven by Faye Smith, 66, of Freeport, turned left across the northbound lanes to enter the school bus lot. Police did not identify the bus company.

The bike struck the bus, ejecting Dejak, police said.

The bus driver was not injured and police said no charges were filed in the accident — and no criminality is involved.
