THE BUDGET

The district proposes a $131,966,905 budget for 2015-16, a 1.48 percent increase from the current $130,040,198. The local tax levy would increase 3.19 percent, from $96,250,283 to $99,320,430.

This increase equals the state's tax-cap limit of 3.19 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. School taxes on the average single-family home would increase 3.37 percent, from $5,941 to $6,141.

The proposed budget includes an actual increase and a step increase of 2 percent for teachers. The budget proposes approximately 15 new teacher positions and additional arts and music programs. There are no cuts in services, staff or programs.
