A man was shot in Long Beach Friday night, setting off a hunt for the shooter, Long Beach city police said.

Authorities said the shooting happened around 10 p.m.

The victim ran out onto Long Beach Road by Park Avenue and flagged down a nearby firefighter saying he had been wounded, Lt. Mark Stark said.

The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, authorities said.

Details on his injuries and the circumstances of the crime were not immediately available during the ongoing investigation.

Stark said several blocks were cordoned off Friday night as officers looked for evidence and searched for the shooter.
