Police said a 19-year-old woman, whom they did not identify, was driving on the Long Island Expressway's south service road near Community Drive in Lake Success at about 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015, when she lost control of the sedan and struck a tree. Credit: Howard Schnapp

A 19-year-old woman was killed in Lake Success on Monday night when she lost control of her sedan and struck a tree, Nassau police said.

Police said the woman, whom they did not identify, was driving east on the Long Island Expressway's south service road near Community Drive about 7:30 p.m., when she lost control of the sedan and struck the tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:50 p.m., police said.

There were no passengers in the vehicle, police said, and no criminality is suspected in the crash.

Earlier, the crash had shut down the service road.
