High surf advisory, small craft advisory in effect, weather service says
High surf and beach erosion are likely at Long Island's Atlantic Ocean beaches through Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.
In its marine report, the service's Upton office issued a high surf advisory until 6 p.m. Monday for the South Shore, and it also said a small craft advisory is in effect through late Tuesday.
"Isolated minor coastal flooding along the western South Shore" also is likely through Monday afternoon, according to the high surf advisory.
Coastal winds are expected to take longer to subside, the service said, explaining why the small craft advisory had been extended to late Tuesday.
