New Hyde Park man killed in motorcycle accident, State Police say

A New Hyde Park man was killed Saturday when he was thrown from his motorcycle, State Police said.

Just after 9 a.m., Zachary J. Fazekas, 19, was driving his Ducati motorcycle on the ramp from the Loop Parkway onto the Meadowbrook State Parkway northbound on Jones Island when he "failed to negotiate the curve" and was ejected, State Police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The eastbound Loop Parkway from Lido Beach and Point Lookout to the Meadowbrook Parkway was closed for hours after the accident. Traffic on the ramp was diverted onto the southbound Meadowbrook Parkway to Jones Beach until after noon, when the eastbound Loop Parkway reopened, police said.

There were no closures on the southbound lanes of the Meadowbrook Parkway or the western Loop Parkway.
