Nassau County on Tuesday unveiled the Det. Luis G. Alvarez Memorial Park in Oceanside in honor of NYPD detective hero who died in 2019 after a battle with cancer following his work at Ground Zero. Alvarez had been a leading champion for the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.
