Lynbrook firefighters extinguish car fire, authorities say

Lynbrook firefighters extinguished a car fire Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Police said the driver escaped uninjured before firefighters arrived to put out the blaze about 3:30 p.m. on Forest Avenue in Lynbrook.
The driver told authorities he saw smoke and fire coming from beneath the hood when the car’s engine stopped running. The car was completely destroyed.
