A Lynbrook man was arrested Tuesday and charged with stealing a hockey glove from the New York Islanders' bench during the team's final game at Nassau Coliseum, Nassau County police said.

Matthew P. Kircheim, 35, was charged with petit larceny and released on an appearance ticket, with his next court date set for June 2 in First District Court in Hempstead.

His arrest comes a day after police released a photo of the bearded suspect, wearing an Islanders cap and grinning broadly as he toted a bottle of beer in the orange and blue glove on his right hand.

Kircheim is accused of taking the glove at the April 25 playoff game in which the Islanders beat the Washington Capitals, 3-1.
