A mail carrier's suspicions led to the arrest of a Queens man for possession of more than 40 pounds of marijuana in North Woodmere Monday afternoon, Nassau County police said.

Duncan Jordan, 40, of 162-02 Jamaica Ave., was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said. He's being held at the Nassau County Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond, officials said.

Police said Jordan had approached the mail carrier in front of a home on Hillcrest Place in North Woodmere, telling him he was expecting a package.

The carrier handed over the package, police said, but became suspicious when Jordan walked away from the home with the package instead of taking it inside. Police were called at 2:20 p.m.

Officers found Jordan in front of a home on Park Lane and an investigation found the marijuana, police said.
