Nassau police are investigating the stabbing of a 19-year-old man in New Cassel on Monday morning.

Third Precinct officers responded to a call of a victim who had been involved in a large fight with at least 20 other males in front of 701 Prospect Ave. at 10:22 a.m.

Police said the suspects were armed with multiple weapons, including bats, pipes, hammers, knives and at least one stun gun. A hammer and a pipe were recovered at the scene, police said.

Once authorities arrived at the fight, the suspects fled on foot, and police found the victim had been stabbed in the stomach and left shoulder. He was taken by Nassau police ambulance to a hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries, police said. The victim is now listed in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
