Man, 57, killed in two-car collision

A 57-year-old man was killed late Monday night when his car was struck head-on by a car driven by a 17-year-old in East Garden City, police said.

Pending notification of next of kin, Nassau County police have not released the identity of the victim, who was pronounced dead at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow about 90 minutes after the crash.

Three passengers in the other car were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said those passengers included a 22-year-old woman and two teenage boys, 15 and 16. Their conditions were not known on Tuesday.

Police said the collision occurred when the 1996 Honda driven by the victim southbound on Merrick Avenue was struck head-on by a 1997 Toyota, driven northbound by the 17-year-old at 11:24 p.m.

No charges have been filed in the crash. Police said the investigation was continuing Tuesday.
