A Long Beach man was arrested after police said he cashed a forged Postal Service money order in May, then tried to cash additional fraudulent money orders at post offices in Long Beach and Atlantic Beach.

Joseph Jordano, 60, of New Hampshire Road was arrested Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. and charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and petty larceny after a Postal Service investigation, Nassau County police said.

Police said Jordano cashed a forged money order for $965 at the Long Beach Post Office on May 18, then attempted to cash other forged money orders at that post office and at a branch in Atlantic Beach.

Details of the investigation were not available.

Jordano is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
