A Carle Place man who was observed breaking into a Franklin Square drugstore early Thursday was arrested and charged with that break-in, as well as a prior drugstore burglary in Carle Place, police said.
Marc Matarazzo, 29, of 239 Wright Ave., was charged with third-degree burglary in connection with the Tuesday incident, police said, and third-degree attempted burglary for the one that was thwarted.
Police said Matarazzo was arrested by Nassau police officers shortly after, they said, he was seen trying to enter the DZ Pharmacy on Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square at 1:17 a.m. Thursday. Police said he had broken a glass front door, but fled without taking any items. He was arrested near Hempstead Turnpike and Harrison Street after a brief foot pursuit, police said.
At that time, police said, Matarazzo was also charged with burglarizing Maple Pharmacy on Westbury Avenue just before 2 a.m. Tuesday. In that burglary, police said Matarazzo stole prescription narcotics after breaking into the store through a rear door.
