Man apparently shoots himself in leg accidentally, cops say

A man apparently accidentally shot himself in the leg Wednesday morning inside a Garden City home, police said.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, is about 70 years old. He was transported from the home on Stratford Avenue to a hospital in stable condition, said Garden City Police Lt. Joseph Lennon.

"At this time, it appears to be self-inflicted accidentally," said Lennon, who said he was unsure about the type of weapon and whether it had proper permits.

Police are continuing to investigate.
