A Massapequa man slashed another man with a knife and then threatened a third man when he tried to intervene, Nassau County police said Friday.
Dominick R. Alborez, 25, of 1 Gull Place, is charged with first-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing.
He was arraigned Friday and held pending a bail of $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond. A temporary order of protection was also issued against him.
First Squad detectives said Alborez was involved in an altercation with a man, 39, at about 8:20 p.m. Thursday on Sunrise Highway near Henry Street in Freeport.
Police said Alborez chased the man north across Sunrise Highway and threw him to the ground. When a third man, 35, attempted to intervene, Alborez pulled a knife and threatened him, police said.
Alborez then slashed the first man across the face, according to police, causing a serious laceration. Freeport Village police responded and found Alborez, who was arrested without incident.
The injured man was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.
