A Hempstead man made off with jewelry and cash in a string of burglaries in Garden City over a four-week period, Nassau County police said Wednesday.

Jamie A. Nunez, 29, of 45 Villa Court, was arrested Tuesday by Hempstead police on charges of second-degree burglary and attempted burglary, detectives from Nassau's Third Squad said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Nunez broke into three homes -- on Salisbury Avenue on June 15, on Stewart Avenue on June 27 and on Meadow Street on July 10, police said. He gained proceeds only from the Stewart Avenue break-in, collecting jewelry and an unspecified amount of cash.

He also tried to break into another home on June 27, on First Street, but fled the scene when an alarm sounded, police said.
