Man arrested in gunpoint robbery in Baldwin
A Baldwin man persuaded another man to give him a ride home and then robbed him of cash at gunpoint, Nassau County police said Tuesday.
Anthony Loubriel, 27, of 20 Grand Ave., is charged with first-degree robbery and resisting arrest, First Squad detectives said.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
Loubriel asked the victim, 37, who was leaving the Oasis Bar on Brooklyn Avenue in Baldwin at about 1 a.m. Monday, for a ride home, according to a news release.
The victim agreed and as he was driving north on Marion Place, police said, Loubriel pulled a handgun and demanded money. The victim complied and then Loubriel left the vehicle and ran off, police said. Police said Loubriel made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Tuesday, police said they saw Loubriel standing in front of his home and proceeded to arrest him.
Loubriel resisted arrest "by failing to place his arms behind his back," the release said.
