Man arrested in Manhasset store thefts
A Brooklyn man will be arraigned Saturday on charges of grand larceny in the theft of nearly $15,000 worth of clothes and jewelry from two high-end stores in Manhasset.
A surveillance video showed him taking a watch valued at more than $9,000 from a display case and leaving the store, police said.
Jones fled in a black, 2004 Lincoln Town Car, police said. Responding officers saw the vehicle a short time later near the Long Island Expressway, and officers stopped Jones and made the arrest, police said.
Police said Jones was also linked to an earlier grand larceny, which occurred at the Tory Burch store on Northern Boulevard at 12:14 p.m. Friday. Again, he was caught on surveillance video taking an assortment of merchandise, police said.
Jones took the merchandise, valued at more than $4,000, from a display rack, and hid it in his pants before leaving the store, police said.
Jones is being charged with two counts of third-degree grand larceny. His arraignment is Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
