Nassau County police said they arrested a Queens man Friday on attempted burglary charges after he was spotted acting as a lookout in a Valley Stream neighborhood.

Nicholas S. Bennett, 22, of Rosedale, was charged with second-degree attempted burglary and is scheduled for arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Bennett was seen ringing the doorbell of a home on Broadway, and then walking to the home's rear yard with a second unidentified man, police said.

Police said Bennett returned to the front of the house and appeared to be acting as a lookout.

When police arrived, Bennett fled, and officers stopped him on Elm Street without injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
