Man assaulted, robbed on Hempstead street
Police are searching for a trio of assailants who they said punched, kicked and robbed a man walking along a street Tuesday evening in Hempstead.
The victim, identified only as a 37-year-old man, sustained a contusion to his left eye, Nassau County police said.
He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police said the assault occurred on Cooper Street West at about 7:30 p.m. The victim was approached by the trio, who then punched and kicked him, stealing his cellphone, sneakers and cash, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
