Man attacked outside N. Lawrence store
A man repairing a table in the front of a home furnishings store in North Lawrence was beaten by a man who entered the store and then tried to rob him, Nassau County police said.
The attempted robbery and attack was inside Aviva Furnishings on Burnside Avenue at about 2 p.m. Thursday, police said. Police said the man, 41, was fixing a table in the front of the store when the would-be robber, believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, entered the store, then reached into the victim's pocket and attempted to steal money. When the victim refused to hand over money, police said the attacker began punching him in the head.
The suspect fled without any cash, police said. The victim suffered a laceration to his head, but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
The suspect has short black hair and was wearing a backward baseball cap, police said. They said he had on a black tank top and black shorts.
