Man beaten, robbed of six pack of beer in Roosevelt, police say
A Sunday afternoon street robbery in Roosevelt saw two suspects attack a 32-year-old man, rifle his pockets and steal a six-pack of beer he was carrying, Nassau County police said.
The robbery occurred around 5:20 p.m. at Raymond and Pennsylvania avenues, police said. Police said the victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to a hospital for treatment of cuts, as well as swelling of his face.
His condition was not immediately known on Monday.
Police said the victim was walking home from a local store when he was jumped by the two suspects, who grabbed him, threw him to the ground -- and began punching him in the face. The pair then went through the victim's pockets and, finding they were empty, instead stole the paper bag he was carrying -- a bag containing only a six-pack of beer.
The two fled north on Pennsylvania Avenue, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
