Man charged in 5 Freeport burglaries
A Freeport man faces burglary charges after allegedly breaking into five homes and stealing electronics equipment and jewelry, Nassau County police said Thursday.
Police said Todd Dugan, 38, of 430 Roosevelt Ave., was arrested Wednesday after he tried to sell jewelry from one of the burglaries.
When Dugan was confronted by a homeowner during one of the alleged break-ins, on Tuesday, he told the person he was a representative from a bank and left, police said.
All of the incidents were in Freeport between Dec. 30 and Tuesday, said police, and each time Dugan fled in a black Dodge Magnum.
Police said Dugan also took CDs, DVDs and a laptop computer.
He is charged with burglary and criminal possession of a controlled substance. His arraignment was scheduled for Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
