Man charged in cell phone company scam
A Queens man who convinced the director of corporate affairs for Arjay Wireless that he could get him a deal on plaques took a $2,800 payment toward an order -- and vanished, police said.
Police have arrested Mack Burnett III, 37, of 220th Street, Cambria Heights, and charged him with fourth-degree grand larceny.
Nassau County police said on March 7, Burnett approached the director in Williston Park, promised a great deal on an order of plaques and collected the $2,800.
Police could not immediately say Wednesday what type of plaques were involved.
Burnett was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police want to know if Burnett has tried a similar scam with others and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
