A Freeport man arrested Thursday after he attempted to break into a home on School Street in Baldwin turned out to be a suspect in a previous burglary in Freeport, police said.

John Jiminez, 41, of Denhoff Avenue, was charged with second-degree burglary, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglar's tools and third-degree criminal trespass, Nassau County police said. He is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said Jiminez attempted to break into the home on School Street and was seen on a surveillance system.

Police were called to the scene and found Jiminez in the area. Police said detectives identified Jiminez from the surveillance footage and learned he was being sought in connection with the burglary of a home on Weberfield Avenue in Freeport on Tuesday. He was arrested at 2:35 p.m.
