A Woodside, Queens man was arrested Tuesday night in Freeport after police said he stabbed another man with a knife during an argument.

Rolando Hernandez, 47, of 69th Place, was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon after being arrested by Freeport Police, police said. He is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

The victim, 32, who was not identified by police, was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately known.

Police said the incident occurred at 8:55 p.m. on Southside Avenue when an argument between the two men escalated and Hernandez drew the knife and stabbed the victim twice in the lower back. Police said the two men did not know each other.

After the stabbing, Hernandez fled, but was found six blocks away on Henry Street, where he was arrested, police said.

The weapon was not recovered, police said.
