Man charged in Hempstead stabbing death
An 18-year-old Roosevelt man was arrested on gang assault charges Wednesday in connection with the December stabbing death of a Westbury man, police said.
Angel R. Vasquez, of Babylon Turnpike, was to be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead Thursday, police said, for his part in the incident that led to the death of Plutaco Galindo, 23, Westbury.
John Nazario Mazariego, 27, of Roosevelt, was arrested and charged earlier this week with second degree murder in Galindo's death. Several fellow MS-13 gang members were also arrested this month on gang assault charges stemming from that incident, Nassau police said.
Galindo and several other men were attacked Dec. 23 outside the El Pacifico Bar in Hempstead after they were mistakenly believed to be members of a rival gang, police said.
