Man charged in Woodbury hit-run
A Syosset man is under arrest after police said he was involved in a hit-and-run that left a 24-year-old woman with "serious head trauma" Wednesday.
Paul J. Reiners, 21, of Oregon Court, was arrested an hour and a half after the crash when he returned to the accident scene in Woodbury, police said.
He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious physical injury and was scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead, Nassau County police said.
Police said the crash occurred at 6 p.m. on Woodbury Road just north of Jericho Turnpike. Reiners was driving his 2002 Ford Mustang south on Woodbury and struck the woman as she crossed eastbound Jericho Turnpike, police said.
Police said that after Reiners fled, another car ran over the woman in the northbound lane.
The identity of the woman has not been released and her condition Thursday was not immediately known, police said.
