Man charged with choking girlfriend
A Uniondale man has been arrested after he choked his girlfriend, police said.
Ean Soley, 36, of Leslie Lane, Uniondale, is under arrest, charged in the attack of his 19-year-old girlfriend Monday at about 6:20 p.m., Nassau County police.
The woman did not require hospitalization, police said.
The incident began when the woman, seeking a ride home after an argument with Soley, called a 22-year-old male friend, who came to pick her up at Soley's house, police said. Before the two could leave, police said Soley "smashed the rear window" of the man's car and he drove off, leaving the woman at the house.
Police said Soley then dragged the woman back inside the house, where he "struck her and choked her around the neck." Soley then displayed a black BB gun and threatened to shoot the victim, police said.
Police said Soley locked the woman in his basement bedroom, but she escaped and called 911.
Police said that Bureau of Special Operations and Emergency Service Unit officers responded to the scene and said Soley initially refused to come out of the home. However, he was later persuaded to surrender, police said.
Soley was charged with strangulation, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree assault, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon.
He is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
