A Hempstead man was arrested and charged Wednesday with using 16 counterfeit $100 bills to make purchases in East Garden City at a Roosevelt Field mall store, police said.

Christian Hines, 19, of 207 Cedar St., was arrested at his home and charged with first degree forgery. Another man, who was not identified by name by police, is still being sought, Nassau police said.

The counterfeit bills were used to make purchases at the Adidas store on Jan. 14, police said. Another man, who police did not identify by name, is still being sought in this case by Crimes Against Property Squad detectives.

Hines was to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court, Hempstead.
