Man charged with stealing N. Massapequa cars
Seventh Squad detectives have arrested a Queens man and are looking for three others who allegedly stole a pair of cars Monday from a North Massapequa home, abandoning one after they crashed it into the other, Nassau County police said.
Police said that four people were looking for vehicles with unlocked doors on North Pine Street at about 2:30 a.m. when they found keys in two cars in a driveway. They left with both vehicles, police said, but apparently ran the cars into each other. One of the cars, a 2010 Nissan, was left on Seamans Neck Road in Seaford, police said.
Police broadcast a search for the other car, a 2010 Mazda, and officers saw it being driven west on Sunrise Highway in Merrick at about 3:25 a.m.
Police set up a traffic stop and the four subjects fled on foot. Police said they arrested one of the four, John Schneider, 17, of 73-08 153rd St. in Queens.
He was arraigned on two counts of grand larceny Monday at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
