Man, child in hospital after beach rescue

A man and a child were in the hospital after rescuers were called to Jones Beach on Friday, said New York State Parks police said.

The unidentified man and child were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow at around 6 p.m.

Police said they may have fallen off a dock at Field 10 in Jones Beach while fishing.

The man had to be airlifted to the hospital. A state parks police source said it appears both are in stable condition.

No other information was immediately available.
