Man critically injured crossing Route 110

A man crossing Route 110 in North Amityville was critically injured after being struck by a car late Thursday night, Suffolk County police said.
Firefighters from the Amityville Fire Department had to lift the car off the man before taking him to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow with what police called "life-threatening injuries."
The man was not carrying identification. Police said he is a Hispanic male in his 40s or 50s.
The driver was not charged.
Police said the accident occurred on southbound Route 110 at Smith Street. The man was crossing east to west on Route 110 when he was struck.
