A man trying to cross Sunrise Highway in Wantagh early Friday was seriously injured when hit by a sport utility vehicle, police said.

No charges are pending against the driver, 25, who was not injured, police said.

Seventh Squad detectives said the pedestrian, 27, was trying to cross the highway from south to north at Wantagh Avenue at about 12:40 a.m. when he was hit by a 2016 Nissan SUV.

Nassau County police ambulance took the man to the hospital with broken bones to his arm, leg and pelvis, police said. He was listed in serious but stable condition.
