A routine traffic stop ended in the arrest of a Freeport man on a drug possession charge Monday in East Meadow, police said.

David A. Rodriguez, 34, of 296 Roosevelt Ave., was arrested after the stop at 9:40 p.m. on one count each of second-degree, third-degree and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He faces arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Nassau County police said Rodriguez was stopped by plainclothes officers from the Third Precinct after he failed to signal while making a turn in his 2009 Infiniti on southbound Franklin Avenue. During the stop police said officers discovered a plastic jar containing what appeared to be marijuana, as well as a vaporizer.

Three clear plastic bags containing MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) -- more commonly known as Ecstasy, Mandy or Molly, depending on the form -- in the car.

Police said Rodriguez was arrested without incident.
