A 42-year-old man found shot inside an auto body repair shop in Freeport Wednesday night died a short time later at a local hospital, police said.

Nassau County police have not released the identity of the victim.

A 911 call to the Freeport police department reporting the shooting inside Aimes Collision on Bennington Avenue was received at 9:41 p.m., police said. Arriving officers found the man with gunshot wounds to the chest and police said he was transported to a hospital, where he died at 10:18 p.m.
