Police are searching for the person who stabbed a man to death during a late-night disturbance Sunday in Hempstead.

Nassau County police said Hempstead police officers were called to the scene of a disturbance on Thorne Avenue at 11:23 p.m. - and found the man who had been stabbed. The victim was transported to Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, where he died at 11:58 p.m.

The name of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this homicide to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
