A Brooklyn man was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon after he fired a handgun into the air at a house party in Valley Stream on Monday, Nassau County police said.

Police said Shane Grant, 21, of Logan Street, Brooklyn, had an ongoing dispute with one of the other guests attending the party at the home on Oxford Street. They said that shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, Grant "pulled out a handgun, firing a shot into the air." He then fled.

No one was injured. Police said detectives arrested Grant on Tuesday on Linden Boulevard in Brooklyn.

He is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
